When the Directors Guild agreed to a new contract, some thought the Writers Guild would follow. Not only did that not happen, look for the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artist to walk in days. Hollywood is about to shut down and it could be a lengthy shut down. By the way, the strike would be called by the Union President Fran Drescher. Yep, The Nanny would be the calling the strike. Get ready to binge old TV shows.
A study by studios shows movie reviewers almost never move the needle as far as the public buying movie tickets. While there are franchises and certain bankable stars that make people go see a movie, The truth is that a movie getting a really good review or a really bad review doesn’t mean any more tickets being sold. Like I’ve always said, just because I like a movie doesn’t mean you or even my wife will like it.

Last week Sony pictures struck gold with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with $120 million weekend. Before that Universal Studio made $1.3 billion with Super Mario Bros. Movie, before that Disney had blockbusters Frozen 2 and Lion King. But, Pixar hasn’t had a hit since Toy Story 3 and last year’s Lightyear barely broke even.
Rosco paint company supplied the paint to Warner Brothers for the shooting of Barbie. Everything had to be painted pink and so much pink was needed, it caused a worldwide six month shortage of pink paint! True story.
