Report for Tuesday, Jan 24th

Movie News: Amazing all the biopics, Elvis, Madonna, Michael J. Fox, Spielberg’s childhood, Whitney Houston, Marilyn Monroe, Freddy Mercury, Buster Keaton just to name a few, and now the Amy Winehouse biopic is in production. Amy’s estate and family have been in negotiations with Focus Films for years and I think this will be a great film. Marisa Abela will play Amy. Release date in July 4, 2024. Amy died in 2011.

Only in Hollywood. There had been rumors that Adam Lambert had been threatened with lawsuits and being banned from ABC-TV and all Disney Parks forever because of an impromptu kiss with his male bass player after a great performance at the 2009 AMA’s. This is 6 years after Madonna kissed Britney and Christina Arugula on the MTV Awards. Well this weekend Adam confirmed the story, saying ABC actually did ban him for a few years. Goofy, two face, holier than thou Hollywood. But I’m not surprised.

Speaking of how bad Hollywood is, the Razzies were announced yesterday, the worst of the worst and while I don’t want to bore you with all the nominees, thought it odd Tom Hanks is nominated for worst supporting actor in Elvis and Tom also nominated for worst actor in Pinocchio and worse director Robert Zemeckis also for Pinocchio. F.Y.I LeBron James also nominated for Space Jam.

Okay, some good Hollywood news, January is the slowest month for going to the movies, but last weekend the Top 5 Movies, Avatar: The Way of Water, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, M3GAN, Missing and Man called Otto did almost $70 million. That’s a big number.

Odds and Ends: This is very odd. Elton John’s half brother Dwight pleaded guilty to drug charges, mainly a small amount of mushrooms and arrived in court with a 5 foot Trident, a three prong spear and wearing something so bizarre Elton wouldn’t wear it. Said it was odd. … Guns N’ Roses will headline Glastonbury in England, and it’s already sold out. … And the biggest selling item of young actresses are nipple covers so they can go braless and won’t nip-out, only in Hollywood folks.
