Report for Monday, Jan 23rd

A rare rock and roll history Pop Quiz question. Name the Hall of Fame artist who was the opening act for Roy Orbison during his 1963 England tour, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, The Beach Boys or the Beatles?

Love Nugget: Cher and Alexander Edwards are engaged and there’s rumors of a Valentines Day Wedding. And F.Y.I. Cher is old enough to be his grandmother.

Movie News: Last week I talked about Madonna’s biopic with Julia Garner playing the Material Girl, now word the Michael Jackson biopic has got the green light but no casting yet. And I’m not surprised Rami Malek has landed the lead in the Buster Keaton biopic, since Rami looks a lot like the late great silent screen comedian who lead a very flamboyant life. And, Still, is the documentary of Michael J. Fox andMichael supervised the film on Apple.

Speaking of Movies,  I want to recommend two films, one new, one old and I really love both. First, Devotion, a true story of two of the bravest and best fighter pilots during the Korean war. All about friendship and race that’s exciting, refreshing, enlightening and streaming. … And look for the movie Mr Church from 2016 starring Eddie Murphy. Eddie is fabulous and proves he can be a serious actor. It’s available everywhere.

TV News: If you haven’t seen it, checkout an old TV series on Netflix that I also recommend called Manifest. It debuted 5 years ago about a commercial jet plane that arrives 5 years late with the passengers in tact but haunted. And there could be a sequel.

Odds and Ends: The Sundance film festival in Park City, Utah is up and running for the first time since Covid, and for the first time ever, Sundance creator Robert Redford has been a no-show. Redford (85) has basically been out of sight since his son James died of cancer at the age of 58 2 years ago. Robert is a great guy, we certainly wish him well.

And back to our Pop Quiz question, answer is The Beatles.
