Report for Friday, Dec 23rd

Merry Christmas Eve, Eve and we have three movie reviews and we start with, Babylon. Which is over the top unique and compelling, this is the fascinating story of Hollywood’s segue from silent films to the talkies. But at 3 hours, it jumps the shark, it out runs it’s coverage and overplays it’s hand. It is too much of too much! It’s like the director got drunk and forgot to say, cut! With that said, it is entertaining, outrages and decadent! Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire and Jean Smart are all great! I still liked it but it will wear you out. A comedy/drama (Rated R) – (3 Hours) – (2 ½ Stars).

Next is, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody! Some people will walk out saying how much they loved this film and some will disagree!  For me, I didn’t love it, but I’m really glad I saw it. The movie jumps all over the place and while we do learn new things about Whitney, trying to cram her incredible life story in just 2 ½ hours is simply impossible. However the story holds your interest and Naomi Ackie who plays Whitney is fabulous. And with all that said, I recommend it (Rated PG-13) -(3 Stars).

And then there’s Puss and Boots: The Last Wish. It’s taken 12 years to get the sequel but it is worth the wait! The best kids movie since Toy Story! Our hero, Puss, has burned eight of his lives and is determined to make his ninth life rememberable! Hilarious with fabulous writing and Antonio Banderas is amazing as Puss’s voice. Love this movie and so will you. (Rated PG) – (100 Minutes) – (4 Stars).

Lots to see on TV over the holiday, football bowl games, NFL games, The Chosen is perfect for the season, Jack Ryan, Emily In Paris, Top Gun, 1923 and so much more.

And let me take a minute to wish you all a very Merry Christmas or what ever holiday you maybe celebrating! We are all blessed to live in this, the greatest country in the world! Mele kalikimaka, hauoli makahiki hou!
