Report for Friday, Nov 18th

It’s Movie Review Friday and we start with the movie, THE MENU, and it is a comedy of horrors. No really, scary as hell but you’ll also laugh and some great satire thrown in as well. It begins when our stars, Anya Taylor Joy and Nicholas Hoult, except an invitation to a super exclusive restaurant on a coastal island. Upon their arrival they get a very weird greeting by the chef Ralph Fiennes. And then the movie turns into a mind blowing, terrifying unpredictable experience that uses magic and food that changes that patrons lives forever (Rated-R) – (106 Minutes) – (4 Stars). … The other movie is, The Chosen. Which was originally a TV series shot in 2019. It’s a Christian faith based movie about the lives and travels of Jesus, Andrew, Matthew and Peter. May not be your cup of tea, but I loved it! (Rated PG) – (94 Minutes) – (4 Stars). … And remember yesterday I reviewed, She Said, the movie about the #MeToo movement and the confirmation of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse and rapes (3 ½ Stars).

Odds and Ends: Rod Stewart will be 78 when he hits the road next year for a world tour. Stewart says he is shocked that people still want to hear his old songs. I saw Rod at the Hollywood Bowl a few years ago and it was fabulous. … Ashton Kutcher has caught the running bug, does marathons and may do a triathlon.

Timely stuff the world cup soccer starts this weekend, always a great event. … Perhaps Elton John’s final concert will happen at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. … And my suicide, can’t lose NFL team this week is Kansas City.

And a (mini) N.Y. Post headline I want to share. Trump and the Murdoch media group, which owns Fox, the N.Y. Post and other outlets have had a falling out and none more obvious than the tiny, bottom of the front page one liner on Wednesday, the day after Trump declared he was running for president again. Tiny one line said, “Florida Man Makes Announcement.” Now that’s funny!
