So sorry to hear Tony Sirico, best known as Paulie Walnuts in the Soprano’s, has died. Tony was 79. Besides the Soprano’s, Tony was a big part of Goodfellas. Before his movie career he was a real life gangster, in the 70’s Tony was arrested for extortion, racketeering and a gun charges, did 20 months in prison. But he turned his life around. His brother Robert, who is a Catholic priest will oversee his services. May he rest in peace.
Love Nuggets: On happier news, I just love Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons who first met on the set of Fargo 6 years ago, been engaged for years, have two children, got married Saturday. … And a Love Nugget trivia, any idea what Oprah, Charlize Theron, Owen Wilson, Lucy Liu and John Hamm have in common? Answer – none of them have ever been married.
Odds and Ends: The new head of the Academy Motion Pix Arts and Sciences, Bill Kramer says there are some big changes for the Oscar telecast fewer Awards and just 2 hour show! … When I saw the story that Charlie Sheen’s 17 year old daughter had a car wreck, I was reminded of many years ago when I was in Hawaii, Tom Selleck was teaching his 15 year old stepson Kevin how to drive and the kid went through an upper parking lot barrier and the car plunged 20 feet to the street, luckily neither Tom of the kid were hurt. … As I predicted, NBC saved Magnum P.I. after CBS canceled it, but for me it was a lot better with Tom Selleck. Selleck one of my favorites guys.
Movie News: On Friday, The Gray Man, directed by Avenger’s Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans will be released in theaters and then segue to Netflix. The action/thriller cost $220 Million to make and I hear it is absolutely horrible! … It’s hammer time, Thor is #1 this weekend.
Sports Shorts: The British Open, one of the four majors is this week and not only is Tiger Woods playing, I hear he is playing better than ever. Should be fun to watch.
