Movie Review Friday: And we start with Scream! So it’s been 25 years and while the story is familiar and a lot of the original cast is back, the new film does not disappoint. Back to the Woodsboro, California house and a new Ghostface who’s out to get even. With 21st Century technology added, there’s more true horror, more suspense and surprises. Can they finally put an end to this quarter century story? I also love it that some of the old stars are back, including Courteney Cox and yes, even David Arquette. Gotta tell ya, it was scary enough for me. Not my cup of tea, but loved it (3 ½ Stars). … Then there’s, Belle. An odd, but very delightful animated fantasy film about a girl who is confused, misunderstood by her peers but also haunted by a dragon monster. Trapped in a virtual time warp, this is a sweet, warm film, kids will love it (3 ½ Stars).
TV News: Netflix has signed to do a documentary called, The Tour. It will produced by the same folks who gave us Formula 1. It will follow the biggest names in PGA golf 24/7 for an entire season. Players like Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson and others. Their lives on and off the course. Could be eye opening. … Hold on, Billy Crystal could be the Oscar host, not Pete Davidson. Stay tuned.
Odds and Ends: I’m hearing from an impeccable source that the Santa Fe, New Mexico Sheriff, Adan Mendoza will meet with the District Attorney over the weekend and if Alec Baldwin continues to refuse to hand over material issued in the December 16th warrant, he may ask that a criminal contempt warrant be issued for Baldwin’s arrest.
The NFL Wild Card games are this weekend and I am turning over a new leaf, from years of called the Mike Evans kiss of death, it’s now the Mike Evans can’t miss picks. These are my 6 winning picks. Chiefs beat Pittsburgh, Dallas beats San Francisco, Tampa beats Philly, Buffalo beats New England, Cincinnati beats the Raiders and Arizona over L.A. Rams.
