Report for Thursday, Dec 9th

Boy this could get very ugly. CNN reporter Chris Cuomo was fired for sharing witness information with his Governor brother who was facing a sexual assault charge. After the firing, Chris announced he was going to sue CNN for wrongful dismissal. Now another CNN reporter is claiming she was sexually assaulted by Chris. And the latest, Now Chris is threatening to blow the whistle on dirt he knows on CNN bigwigs. Like I said this could get very ugly but no matter what Chris Cuomo is toast.

With so many movies coming out, I’m getting a jump on reviews. Starting off with, Don’t Look Up. This movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchette, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande and many others. While it is about two astronomers, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio trying to convince the president, Meryl Streep, and the world that the earth is about to be destroyed by a meteor but nobody believes them. This is actually a look at climate control delivered in a creative, hilarious, dark comedy way. What I don’t understand are some critics panning it because they say the seriousness of climate control shouldn’t be joked about. Hello? This dark comedy couldn’t make their point of the seriousness of climate control more obvious by using entertaining. I loved this movie (3 ½ Stars). Opens tomorrow, on Netflix Christmas Eve.

Also opening tomorrow, National Champions. This is about a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback who is demanding all players strike the National Championship game to protest coaches and college officials who make millions while the players make nothing. This is a complicated story, players get hurt, don’t get paid, colleges make millions on football but football supports all the other sports, swimming, gymnastics, water polo etc. Thought provoking, J.K. Simmons is fabulous as the coach (3 Stars). F.Y.I. opening in March, Downton Abbey 2, and if you are a fan, you will love it.

Here’s an odd nugget, Nicholas Cage was spotted several times last weekend, every time wearing a different outfit, Pirate to clown, to gangster, to homeless but always with a cape.
