Report for Friday, Nov 5th

Movie Review Friday: We start off with Red Notice. How can Netflix studios spend more money making this film than any other and star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, be so bad? A huge art theft, Interpol agents, international crime, and the special effects that just fall flat. This is a huge disappointment (Rated PG-13) – (2 Hours) – (2 Stars).  … And next is Eternals. Stars Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie. It’s called an action, adventure, superhero, sci-fi that I call very confusing. Ancient aliens, ancient enemies that explodes in your faces yet goes nowhere. Another huge problem, it over 2 1/2 hours! I was hoping for a lot more and I got a lot less, sorry folks (2 Stars). … But then there’s Finch. And Tom Hanks is his spectacular self as a survivor of a huge solar storm that destroys earth. Tom is terminally ill and an engineer who decides to build a robot named Jeff to help him survive and take care of his beloved dog Goodyear. All three leave their bunker in St. Louis and head west looking for human life. This is charming, feel good, delightful film! (Rated PG-13) – (2 Hours) – (3 ½ Stars).

Odds and Ends: You may have heard Jeff Bezos offered Tom Hanks the first ride to space if Tom paid $28 million, Tom declined but is it true, Bezos offered a similar deal to 50 Cent, Lebron James, George Clooney and Bruce Springsteen? … You also heard about Aaron Rodgers testing positive for Covid, but Aaron also told the producers of Jeopardy when he hosted the show he was vaccinated. That’s just wrong! … So excited Apple TV has green lighted a four part mini-series on the life of Magic Johnson! When I was a rookie reporter for the N.Y. Post, I was sent to East Lansing, Michigan to interview this junior basketball player at State that was being called a can’t miss NBA star. That kid was Earvin Johnson, Magic! Great kid, great man and player. Later met his wife, Earlitha Kelly, better known as Cookie, who is a great lady. Can’t wait for the series. … And don’t forget to turn back your clocks before going to bed Saturday.
