Report for Friday, Aug 27th

Today’s reports originates from Washington D.C. and I’ll have lunch at the fabulous Old Ebbitt Grill just a few blocks from the White House and first opened in 1856. This is one of my favorites restaurants in the country. If you are ever in D.C., got to have lunch and a beer at the great Old Ebbitt Grill! F.Y.I. back in studio Monday.

Movie Review Friday: And we start with Flag Day starring Sean Penn and his daughter Dylan which opened in theaters last week, and in more theaters this week. The true story of America’s biggest counterfeiter, bank robber and con man, John Vogel and his complicated relationship with his daughter. Sean also directs this movie that could have been great but is only good. While the story is worth telling, it’s often over acted and obvious parts go from a touching moment turn to a corny moment. However there are other problems, cinematography is weak, the soundtrack is brutal, just a mess! (Rated R) – (2 Hours) – (2 Stars).

No Man of God is the true story and hundreds of hours of one on none FBI transcripts between FBI agent Bill Hagmaier and serial killer Ted Bundy as he awaited his execution. As they talk, their relationship takes a very strange and twisted turn. Bundy is played brilliantly by Luke Kirby, Hagmaier played just as brilliantly by Elijah Wood. Fascinating, chilling, hypnotizing and creepy. In theaters and streaming (3 Stars).

You’ll have to look for it, but Peter Jackson’s documentary, The Beatles: Get Back. This is a must see for Beatle fans. 56 hours of never before seen footage dating back to the beginning and ending with their rooftop concert at Abby Road. But head’s up, in November they’ll be a 6 part mini series on Disney+ and other streamers (4 Stars).

From 4 Stars to The Colony, a post apocalyptic story that starts with humans living on a distant planet and segways to manned mission who return to earth and are surprised when attacked by an unknown colony. One woman survives who finds her daughter is there and now faces a fight to get herself and her daughter back to that distant hell hole planet! If you are a huge Sci-fi fan, you might like it. Not me, confusing and ugly (1 ½ Stars).
