TV News: HBO’s Los Angeles Lakers Drama series is going full steam ahead. It is entitled Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980’s. Starring Adrien Brody, Michael Chiklis, Jason Segel, Michael Shannon, John C. Reilly, Sally Fields and many others. The mini-series will debut in March. I was there, covered the Lakers at the press conference announcing Kareem and Magic joining the Lakers. I can’t wait, they will be one hour segments, but we don’t know how many segments yet. Should be great! … So Punky Brewster’s second reboot has been canceled, it comes one season too late.
Streaming on Netflix, the movie Sweet Girl. Look I like Jason Momoa, however, his new movie, Sweet Girl is a convoluted, unbelievable, big silly mess! The effects and stunts are fabulous but that’s where fabulous ends. When Jason’s wife dies after a pharmaceutical pulls the experimental drug that could save her, Jason losses it! That’s understandable, but the unbelievable story that follows just falls apart. Just past the half way point there’s a huge “I see dead people” type twist, but even that slowly fades. Like I said, like Jason and his young co-star Isabela Merced, but they can’t save it (2 Stars).
Odds and Ends: One of my older golf buddies who use to use Viagra swears that a table spoon of peanut butter a few hours before bedtime gets ‘er done. Just telling ya. … Britney Spears dad has filed new papers with the court that Britney suffers from serious addictions and her mental health issues have deteriorated, and he should remain in charge. … Little worried about Bob Odenkirk, said he was doing fine on August 7th, but nothing since.
