TV News: You got to hand it to Simon Cowell, American Idol, America’s Got Talent and taking those formats worldwide. Now Simon is going to do Walk The Line. This is a singing competition that also adds a gaming element. If your singing talent puts you in the top three, new contestants are added the next week and you must decide to keep singing or take a cash pay out and leave the show. Coming fall of 2022.
TV Review: Sexy Beast will debut on July 21st on Netflix. It’s cutting edge, funny, and genus. A dating show like no other. One man picks from three women on one segment, then one woman picks from three men. The twist is everybody is wearing monster costumes, so nobody knows what each other looks like. They talk a lot about their likes and dislikes, habits, favorite foods, things that turn them on and turn them off, everything in between. But it’s not till they pick their date that they see what the person looks like (4 Stars).
Great five part documentary is in the can called, Knockout Blonde. It’s the true story of Frank Maloney, who I knew when he was boxing champion Lennox Lewis’ manager. But throughout his life Frank would secretly dress as a woman, Frank was Transgender. The documentary shows Frank’s coming out, telling his family, having surgery and changing his name to Kellie Maloney. Knockout Blonde is being shopped now, but will most likely end up on Apple TV (4 Stars).
Odds and Ends: Different from Cher, Elton John’s Final Concert tour that will start next spring will be his final concert tour. Last date, Dodger Stadium November 20th. … Last week I told you how amazing or stupid 78 year old Harrison Ford was for still insisting on doing his own stunts in the final Indiana Jones, well on Monday while practicing a fight scene, Ford separated his shoulder and sprained his wrist. With streaming services and classic films available on demand, the Turner Classic Movie channel has lost most of their sponsors and viewership is all but gone.
