Head’s Up: Mare of Easttown is a great mini-series on HBO that debuted last Sunday and also on HBO Max on demand and the second episode is this Sunday that I guarantee will be much more entertaining than the Oscars. It stars Kate Winslet, Jean Smart, and Julianne Nicholson. It’s about Easttown, Pennsylvania and their #1 detective, Mare Sheehan played by Winslet who is investigating a murder that takes a lot of twists and turns and it’s compelling (4 Stars).
Movie News: It’s going to happen. You will soon see bottles of Coka-Cola in Gone with the Wind, a smart phone sitting on the Godfather’s desk, and even a laptop in Star Wars. New technology putting product placement in the classics. Kind of sad.
TV News: After Dr. Oz killed the Jeopardy ratings when he was a guest host, ratings went up with Aaron Rodgers as guest host and Anderson Cooper is pretty good this week. It appears the write in campaign to allow Levar Burton to host Jeopardy worked. … More ratings, The Academy of Country Music Awards killed American Idol. … And surprisingly, Shark Tank continues to dominate Fridays.
Odds and Ends: Wade Robson is suing Michael Jackson’s estate claiming he was sexually abused by Michael when he was a teenager. However, between his praising Michael after his death as a wonderful, kind, caring man, and denying there was any abuse and the fact that his Leaving Neverland was full of lies, a judge has dismissed the suit. … Somebody call the wambulance, Angelina Jolie says her career has been destroyed because of Brad Pitt and their bitter divorce. Angelina has produced, starred or directed one bomb after another, ever heard of Come Away, The One and Only Ivan, The Breadwinner or Those Who Wish me Dead? That’s just four of nine bombs in last 6 years. A lot of us go through divorce, blaming Brad is just sheep dip.
