It’s Movie Review Friday. First, still playing at theaters and defiantly worth seeing are Nobody and Godzilla vs. Kong. Enjoy that theater experience, big screen and popcorn. However, opening today at a theater neat you is Voyagers. It’s been said it’s a little bit like Lord of the Flies in space but stupid, corny and a total waste of your time. Set in 2063, scientist have found a planet that would sustain human life but it takes 83 years to get there. So they train children of astronauts and send them on the long trip, planning for them to have kids and their grand kids could start a colony on the planet. Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily Rose stars along with Tye Sheridan, but are lost in this mess. Silly and stupid, (PG-13) (107 minutes of misery) and (1 Star), nuff said.
As far as streaming, Netflix has two hideous new movies. A Korean gangster film, Night in Paradise, and a Turkish comedy, Have you Ever Seen Fireflies. Both subtitles, however If you haven’t seen Nomadland or The United States vs Billie Holiday, both playing on Hulu and are 4 Stars. And another great documentary, Betty White: First Lady of television on Netflix.. One More great documentary on HBO Max called, The Last Cruise. It’s the true story of a cruise ship a year ago slammed with Covid while out to sea and forced to quarantine.
Odds and Ends: Publicist say that on average celebrities, no matter who they are, only have to call police on obnoxious fans once or twice a year. Harry and Meghan have called police 9 times in the last 9 months but they refuse to pay for their own security. … In the last two weeks, both Jeopardy and American Idol’s ratings have gone in the toilet. … Scum bag cheater Lance Armstrong’s scum bag son has been arrested for sexual assault. … Katy Perry tells everybody she hasn’t shaved her legs since having her baby. Who cares? … And finally, as predicted months ago, Justin Bieber is canceling his summer tour. No, it’s not because of the covid, it’s because of lack of interest.
