The hottest news of the day could be the disastrous rating of Saturday Night Live last week, the worst in a decade. Despite an uptick leading up to the election, S.N.L. has been slipping for years and there’s stories that Loren Michaels may finally pull the plug and if ratings don’t take a huge jump. This may be their final season. Been a great run.
Movie News: There will be a huge Zoom call this morning between agents, publicists and officers of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in an attempt to arrange for Oscar nominees to appear at the show by rotating seating and keeping socially distant.
Netflix is calling it their most exciting project ever, The Gray Man. Described as a James Bond type franchise, that they hope will be a long lasting series. The movie is about a couple CIA guys, one played by Ryan Gosling who goes rouge and his former CIA buddy, played by Chris Evans, is assigned to track him down and put a stop to his freelancing. Coming in September, this has all the makings of a monster hit. … Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is predicting his biggest and best movie ever, Black Adam. Dwayne plays a warrior with super powers who has been held in captivity for 5,000 years but returns to life in current times with a lot of getting even to do. Release date in July 2022, same weekend the new Indiana Jones will be released. … And get ready for the documentary, Tom Petty Somewhere You Feel Free. I got to know Petty in the 80’s with the Heartbreakers. While this bio has some early Petty stuff, it mostly deals with his 1994 making of Wildflowers. Shot mainly in 16MM, fabulous.
And while we hear a lot about female celebrities having nip/tucks, there have been a lot of male celebrities who have gone under the knife. Getting nose jobs, Ashton Kutcher, Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, Zack Efron and Tom Cruise has had three nose jobs. And super hunk Brad Pitt had surgery to pin back his dumbo ears.
