Report for Wednesday, Mar 3rd

I try to give you heads up when there are great TV shows or movies coming out and today I have two that are must see TV Specials. Best of the year.

Coming March 27th on HBO, the documentary, Tina. A look at Tina Turner from childhood to her 80th birthday. Her ups and downs, the drugs, the abuse, Buddhism saving her life, twist and turns, laughs and tears and pure music genius throughout. Fabulous. And there is a lot of incredible never before seen footage of Tina life, covering  6 decades from her TV and stage performances to partying and hanging out at home and her love affairs. I can’t say enough good things about Tina (4 Stars).

But hold on, I have saved more for Aretha Chain of Fools, the National Geographic Genius series’ four part special on the life of Aretha Franklin. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer were very hands on while producing and directing this incredible mini-series. Aretha the song writer, the entertainer, Emmy winner, civil rights fighter and much more about this wonderful woman. Starring the brilliant Cynthia Erivo, March 21st on NatGeo and on Hulu next day (4 Stars).

Odds and Ends: Been rumored for years but now Will Smith is saying he is considering a run for Congress, maybe for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat. Would be the first celebrity. … Lady Gaga will pay her dog walker, Ryan Fisher’s doctor bills, and there’s word she will also give him $500,000 dollars for his bravery … That reminds me, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Garner, Kylie Jenner and the Obama’s have all had G.P.S. chips injected into their dogs, keeping track of their pooches wherever they are. … Nobody should be surprised at this, Golden Globe ratings were the worst in history. … Tom Hanks has fallen in love with surfing. Caught the bug in Australia while shooting the Elvis movie when he bumped into the great Australian surfer and star, Chris Hemsworth who gave him lessons.  Now, Tom Hank is surfing Malibu.

Head’s up, got my vaccines so headed to Palm Springs for a golf trip. MP3’s next two days, back on Monday.
