Report for Monday, Jan 25th

This is controversial, but I need to throw in my 2 cents. Biden has signed an executive order allowing males who have transitioned to transgender females to compete against natural born females in high school sports. Look, my brother Harry is now my transgender sister, Sherry who I love with all my heart. But when Sherry was 15 she was 6 foot, 150 pounds. I currently have a 5 foot 3 inch, 110 pound 15 yr old granddaughter who is on her high school swimming team. Would it be fair for her to compete against Sherry if Sherry was in high school now? Would that be fair? Just asking, what say you?

Odds and Ends: In California, on Indian land there are 37 casinos and there are no covid restrictions on restaurants, hotels, casinos or bars. However masks are recommended. … Since we last spoke, Tom Brokaw announced he is retiring from NBC. Which reminds me of a party I attended 40 years ago in HNL where I shared a fat joint with you guessed it, Hi, I’m Tom Brokaw NBC nightly news. And yes he inhaled.

Sad and tough week. First buddy Los Angeles Dodger Don Sutton died, on Friday Hank Aaron passed, I got to know Hank when I was with the Dodgers, a truly great guy and was one of the nicest people I ever met. And on Saturday Larry King (87), expired. Love the story when Larry got his first start in 1961, doing a local radio nighttime talk show in Miami, Jackie Gleason owned Miami, and took a liking to the young upstart talk show host. King asked Gleason if there was any way he could get the biggest star in the world to appear on his little radio show. It was Gleason’s best friend, Frank Sinatra who was opening the famous Fountain Blue. What King didn’t know, Sinatra had owed Gleason a huge favor for many years. Jackie asked Sinatra to do King’s little show, Frank did the show and that appearance shot King to stardom.
