Report for Friday, Nov 13th

Movie Review Friday: Opening everywhere today, Freaky. When a darling high school cheerleader is attacked by a serial killer, something very strange happens, they switch bodies! The teenager turns into a killer, the killer turns into the hot high school girl. It’s a comedy-horror movie with plenty of both. Creative, full of surprises and laughs. Perfect for a Friday the 13th release. Vince Vaughn is the killer turned cheerleader and Kathryn Newton is the cheerleader turned killer. (Rated R) – (101 Minutes) – (3 ½ Stars). … Also opening in wide release, Wolfwalkers. An animated, family film packed with magic and a pack of killer wolves set in the 17th Century. Fabulous story and the animation takes you to a different dimension. It’s charming, thrilling, beautiful and it jumps off the screen. Take the kids and pack the masks (Rated PG) – (3 ½ Stars).

Premiering on Netflix today, Hillbilly Elegy. This is based on a true story about a family struggling with addiction, poverty and bad decisions. Three generations with a tough grandma played by Glenn Close, drug addicted mom played by Amy Adams and her son trying to excel through all the chaos played by Gabriel Basso. I don’t know why but Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 28%, I liked it a lot. On Netflix (2 ½ Stars).

Movie Nuggets: John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place was really good movie and the sequel has already been shot, it’s in the can and set for release in April. But now they’re talking about two more Quiet Place movies. Do we really need that many? … And Justin Timberlake stars in the drama, PALMER, playing an ex-convict who returns to his small hometown and raises a wayward young boy. It’s been a long time since Justin has been in front of a camera, but hey, being worth $250 million, why work?

For several years there’s been a movie called, Ambulance. The script is being called instant Oscar worthy, but getting a team together has been tough until now. Now Michael Bay will direct and Jake Gyllenhaal will star. It’s called the thriller of thrillers.
