Report for Wednesday, Sept 9th

Love Nugget: It is true, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey are actively trying to get pregnant and hope to make an announcement before Christmas. Heard it here first folks.

Lot of Movie News and finally the long awaited review of the live action remake of Disney’s Mulan starring Yifei Liu. This movie is an explosion of spectacular effects and great story telling, but what could have been fabulous is just really really good. The first 10 minutes shows why there will be an oscar for costumes, they are spectacular. The $205 million budgeted film is the biggest budgeted film for a woman director and no denying it is visually awesome. Shot in New Zealand and China the highlight may be our stars supernatural strength and never give up attitude that will keep you on the edge of your seat in disbelief. Being a woman in men’s clothing also presents some unexpected challenges that also adds humor. I’m not going to be a spoiler, however this has a lot of twist and turns from the animated 1998 original, and you’ll be surprised. (PG-13) – (115 Minutes) – (3 ½ Stars).

More Movie News, coming soon are two true movies, both great. First, Good Joe Bell, starring Mark Wahlberg who walks across America to bring awareness to bullying in support of his gay son who has been unmercifully bullied. Again, true story and great.

The next true story movie is, The Duke. This tells the story of an elderly London cab driver played by Jim Broadbent who steals the Duke of Wellington’s painting from the London Gallery and sends a ransom note that he will only return it if the English government promised to take better care of their elderly. Also stars Helen Mirren.

TV Review: Debuting tonight on Hulu, Woke. A comedy about a black cartoonist named Keef played by Lamorne Morris, trying to make it with light hearted print cartoons. Then one night he is wrongly detained by a jerk cop, and from then on, Keef starts hearing inanimate objects talk to him. I love this show, really creative.
